It’s that time of year again where the trees turn gorgeous colors, the weather is crisp, and the best activities are in full swing: pumpkin patches, apple orchids, and local markets.
Yup, it’s fall! And it’s time to get out the camera to capture all of the beauty.
I’m going to give you the best fall photoshoot ideas for Instagram or wherever you want to share your photos.

Throw a Pile of Leaves
Grab a pile of leaves, and throw! This is such an easy fall photoshoot idea you can create anywhere in the world. Just find a few gorgeous leaves, and throw. You can either throw the leaves up in the air, or you can throw them directly at the camera.
Tip: Put your camera on high-speed continuous or your phone in burst mode to capture the best moment!
Incorporate Fall Bouquet
Aren’t these flowers just gorgeous?! I love adding in a fresh fall bouquet to a fall photoshoot because it ties in the fall colors beautifully. This adds a punch of color to your photos and is a cute prop for your photo shoot.

Wear Fall Accessories

If you are having trouble capturing fall where you live then bring your fall accessories to add more color to your photoshoot. Don’t be shy, you can add fall scarves, berets, hats & gloves to give a cozy feel.

Fall Cafe Photoshoot
Location: Remi Flower and Coffee, NYC
Check out your local cafe (one that offers outdoor seating, or has a cute interior) and have a casual impromptu photoshoot. Nothing says fall more than a cozy cup of coffee, and this is an easy way to add a fall look to your photos.
Show a Fall Picnic

Nothing says fall than a picnic under the fall foliage! This makes for a great fall photoshoot session, and to make the photo really pop be sure to add a stylish Picnic Basket & Waterproof Picnic Blanket.

Find a Wall of Ivy
Location: West Village, NYC
If you live near a cute town or village with some older homes, go scouting to find incredible ivy! Some ivy changes to fall colors, and makes for a beautiful backdrop to your photos. It might take a while to find the perfect wall of ivy, but you might discover even more photo spots on your search.

Get Cozy with Twinkle Lights
Adding some Twinkle Fairy Lights in your fall photos is a must to create that cozy mood! This is a great way to add some interest to your photo and works especially well for at-home fall photoshoots.
Tip: add fairy lights when shooting in darker settings. Adding them during a sunset, or night photo can really add more interest. Otherwise, during the day, you won’t be able to see the lights.
Showcase Fall Foliage

Find a setting where there are plenty of trees in peak foliage. This works particularly well when you have two rows of trees lines up symmetrically behind you. For example, the Mall in Central Park.
Tip: To make the trees appear more blurry, shoot at a higher focal length like 50mm-100mm.

Need a fall posing idea? Find a gorgeous fall setting, and run toward the camera. This is an easy way to add interest to your photos and doesn’t require too many props.
To capture the best moment, turn your camera to high-speed continuous or burst mode on iPhone.

Take a ride in a Row Boat
Location: Central Park, NYC
Showcase a classic fall activity by having a photoshoot inside a rowboat. Most likely your surroundings will be covered in fall foliage, and row boating makes it even more special.
Find a local pond or lake that offers the service and have fun!
Take in the Fall Views
This is another posing idea that doesn’t involve too many props! Find a gorgeous fall setting like overlooking a bridge or scenery (one with a view works best) and face the views.

Fall Leaf Skirt

Why not accessorize with nature!? This cute trend is so fun to do but may take a couple of tries to get the best photo.
Here are some tips to get this photo: this is so much easier to create if you have someone taking your photo, and another person holding the leaf (arm out of frame). That way, your leaf skirt will look more proportional to your body, rather than being too small.
Also, Find a larger pretty leaf for your skirt. The larger leaf will show up on camera better, to make for a better photo.

I love using props to frame out your photo which makes the subject in the center just pop. Adding a heart frame using a fall leaf is an easy, and adorable way to add more interest to your photos.
This works great if you don’t have a lot of different fall backgrounds to work with. The heart cutout will stand out for itself, making you shine in the middle.
Tip: An easy way to cut out the perfect heart is to use an artificial leaf. You won’t have to worry about the leaf breaking while you cut the heart shape. You can find a pack of artificial leaves on Amazon.

This will take some DIY skills, but shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. Gather a bunch of leaves with similar sizing and coloring. From there you can either ‘sew’ them together with wire or leaf sticks. Or you can wear a thin headband, and fix the leaves around the band, and bobby pin the rest.
