If getting dressed in the fall somehow turns into staring at a closet full of clothes while declaring you have nothing to wear, it might be time for a capsule wardrobe.
I put together a complete Quince fall capsule wardrobe filled with versatile pieces you can wear for everyday life, the office, weekends, travel and even dinner. The goal? Fewer pieces, way more outfits.
And no, a capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to mean a closet full of boring beige basics. I kept the foundation neutral with black, white, gray and denim, then added a pop of cobalt blue to make things a little more fun.

What Makes a Good Fall Capsule Wardrobe?

When building your own capsule, keep these things in mind:
- Stick to a cohesive color palette. Choose colors that easily mix and match so you don’t have to think too hard when putting together an outfit.
- Follow the three-outfit rule. Before adding something, ask yourself if you can style it at least three different ways.
- Start with versatile basics. Great denim, trousers, sweaters, button-downs and layering pieces will do most of the heavy lifting.
- Mix casual and dressy pieces. Choose items that can work for different parts of your life instead of one specific occasion.
- Add a little personality. A pop of color, stripe or interesting jacket keeps your capsule from feeling boring.
- Don’t forget layers. Jackets, cardigans and sweaters can completely change the look of the same basic outfit.
Quince Tops
Mongolian Cashmere Cropped Cardigan

This gray 100% Mongolian cashmere cardigan is easily one of my favorites. It’s incredibly soft with the perfect relaxed fit, and I’m wearing a size large.
I’ve tried plenty of Quince cashmere over the years. See more of my favorites in my Quince Cashmere Review.
Wear it: Buttoned with jeans and flats, with black trousers for work, or draped over your shoulders with the Oxford shirt. Can be your most worn sweater.
Organic Cotton Cashmere Short-Sleeve T-Shirt

A lightweight tee is such a good transitional fall basic. This one drapes beautifully and is light enough to wear now but easy to layer later.
Wear it: With straight-leg jeans, under the denim barn jacket, or tucked into the black trousers with a blazer.

Organic Cotton Cashmere Long-Sleeve T-Shirt

I also added the long-sleeve version in this beautiful beige shade to bring some warmth into the capsule. It’s lightweight, super soft and perfect for layering as the temperatures drop.
Wear it: With jeans and flats, underneath the barn jacket, or with the black trousers for work.
100% Cotton Oxford Shirt

I’m surprised I didn’t try this white Oxford shirt sooner! The brushed cotton feels softer and more casual than a traditional poplin button-down, and the relaxed fit makes it really easy to style.
Wear it: Tucked into trousers, casually unbuttoned with jeans, or layered underneath a sweater or blazer.
Organic Cotton Crewneck Sweater

Proof that capsule wardrobes don’t have to be boring! This 100% cotton cobalt blue sweater is my pop of color, and I’m predicting this shade will be everywhere this fall.
Wear it: With medium-wash denim, charcoal barrel jeans, or black trousers for a bold pop against the neutrals.
100% Silk Button Down Top

This silk blouse is the piece that takes the capsule from daytime to dinner. The silk drapes beautifully, and I size up to an XL for a looser, more relaxed fit.
Wear it: With black trousers and booties for dinner, under the blazer for work, or with jeans and ballet flats for an elevated casual look.

100% Cashmere T-Shirt

One of my all-time favorite Quince pieces! I own this cashmere T-shirt in multiple colors because it’s the perfect in-between weight for early fall and layers beautifully once it gets colder.
Wear it: With jeans and sneakers, tucked into trousers, or layered underneath basically any jacket in this capsule.
Quince Jackets
The jackets are where you can really transform your capsule. I chose four different styles so the same tops and bottoms can go from casual to polished just by changing your outer layer.
Structured Cardigan

Technically a cardigan, but I wear this 100% cardigan sweater more like a jacket because of the heavier, structured fabric. The bell sleeves and black color make it look incredibly polished.
Wear it: With black trousers for full CEO energy, over a cashmere tee with jeans. Can’t go wrong with this style. .
Denim Barn Jacket

This denim barn jacket was an immediate add-to-cart for me. The denim and contrasting collar add personality to even the simplest outfit while still working with practically every bottom in the capsule.
Wear it: With black trousers and a tee, straight-leg denim and the beige knit, or barrel jeans and ballet flats.
Recycled Wool Blazer

A great wool blazer instantly makes your fall basics feel more polished. I love the mix of gray and beige in this one because it adds texture while still functioning as a neutral.
Wear it: With black trousers for work, jeans and a cashmere tee for smart casual, or over the silk top for dinner.
Comfort Stretch Long Trench Coat

You can’t have a fall capsule without a good trench coat. I chose the long version in dark khaki because I’m 5’10”, but Quince also offers a shorter option if you don’t want quite as much length.
The warmer khaki works beautifully with the entire capsule, and the stretch makes it much more comfortable than a stiff traditional trench.
Wear it: Over jeans and a sweater, with black trousers for work, or layered over the silk top and booties for dinner.
Quince Bottoms
I kept the bottoms especially simple with just three styles: a classic straight-leg jean, a trendier barrel jean and a polished black pant. Between the three, you can create everything from a casual weekend outfit to something you’d wear to the office.
Bella Rigid Straight-Leg Jeans

These Bella Rigid Jeans are officially my favorite Quince jeans. They’re made from 100% organic cotton with no stretch, which gives me that structured, supported denim fit I personally love.
I chose the medium wash because it works so well with the neutral tops and adds a little more blue into the capsule. I’m wearing my true size 32.
Wear it: With the cobalt sweater, cashmere tee and blazer, or Oxford shirt and trench.
Bella Stretch Barrel Jeans

If you want something a little more trend-forward, I love these barrel jeans in charcoal black. They have more stretch than the rigid denim but still feel really supportive and comfortable.
The dark charcoal is also surprisingly versatile because you can make these feel either casual or a little more dressed up.
Wear it: With the silk top and flats, cobalt sweater and sneakers, or cashmere tee and structured cardigan.
Looking for more denim options? I also tested their most popular styles in my Abercrombie Jeans Review.
Ultra-Stretch Ponte Wide-Leg Pants

Where have these been?! These black wide-leg pants made so many of the outfits in this capsule instantly look more polished.
They’re extremely stretchy and comfortable, but still have that sleek trouser look. I sized up to an XL for a slightly looser fit and chose the 32-inch inseam.
Wear it: With the silk top for dinner, Oxford shirt and blazer for work, or a simple tee and denim barn jacket for something more casual.
Quince Shoes & Accessories
Accessories are another easy way to make a smaller wardrobe feel much bigger. I kept things simple with versatile black and white pieces that can work across practically every outfit in the capsule.

Woven Ballet Flats
These woven ballet flats were probably my most-worn shoes while styling the capsule. The woven leather adds a little texture and gives even a simple jeans-and-sweater outfit a more elevated feel.
Leather Bootie Heels
For dressier outfits, I swapped the flats for these black leather booties. They have a thicker heel that’s actually comfortable to walk in, and I’ve worn mine everywhere from dinners to a Lady Gaga concert.
Leather Sneakers
A white leather sneaker gives the entire capsule a casual option. The exact pair I styled in the video is currently sold out, but Quince has a similar sporty style that works just as well.
Convertible Leather Bag

If you’re only going to add one bag to a capsule, make it one you can actually wear multiple ways. This Quince leather bag comes with both shoulder and crossbody straps, and you can even remove the straps and carry it as a clutch.
The black leather worked with every outfit I styled and it has enough room for your everyday essentials.
P.S. I’ve tried dozens of their bags! See my favorites in my full Quince Bag Review.
Wear it: As a shoulder bag for everyday, crossbody when you’re on the go, or without the straps for dinner.
Jackie Polarized Sunglasses

And finally, sunglasses! The Jackie sunglasses are one of my favorite Quince accessories because they’re classic, chic and polarized.
They have that expensive designer-sunglasses feel without the designer price tag, and the shape works with everything from casual denim to your dressier fall looks.
Final Thoughts on My Quince Fall Capsule Wardrobe
And there you have it: a complete Quince fall capsule wardrobe that can create so many different outfits without needing an overflowing closet.
The biggest takeaway isn’t that you need to buy every single piece. Start with what you already own, fill in the gaps and remember that three-outfit rule. If a new piece can work with several things already hanging in your closet, you’re much more likely to actually wear it.
I also created a free Quince Fall Capsule Wardrobe Guide showing even more ways to mix and match these pieces, so you can see exactly how I’d turn this capsule into complete outfits.
